Leo season is here.

Ruled by the Sun, fiery Leos often end up taking centre stage, like the mighty Sun itself which everyone can see when it rises.

But with Pluto transiting Aquarius, the opposite sign of Leo, it hasn’t been easy for early degree Leos to shine like the Sun without a care in the world.

Jennifer Lopez aka JLo is a case in point.

JLo has her Sun at 1°34’ Leo and also Mercury at 3°56’ in the same sign in her 10th house where we locate fame, recognition and reputation among other things.

You can find out about the planets, houses and key points in your chart along with how YOU can work with their energies for an optimal life from my masterclass “Uncover the hidden power of YOUR horoscope”. Part A is FREE to watch – HERE.

Leos are often regarded as the performers of the zodiac with a penchant for the limelight.

A typical Leo stands out from the crowd.

It’s opposite sign, Aquarius, is associated with the collective with a focus on humanity and what’s best for society as a whole – this is the most benevolent expression of Aquarian energy.

Pluto (deatth & re-birth) is the slowest moving planet in our solar system.

It takes Pluto 248 years to travel through all the 12 signs of the zodiac.

After a long tour in Capricorn since 2008, Pluto ingressed into Aquarius last year on 23 Mar 2023 (GMT) for a brief period of time before retrograding back into the sign of the goat again on 11 Jun 2023.

Pluto re-entered airy Aquarius this year on 21 Jan 2024.

It is now retrograde in Aquarius and will be traveling back to Capricorn again between 2 Sep – 19 Nov this year, before coming back to the sign of the water bearer again where it will remain until 2044 – that’s 20 years!

Pluto, the Lord or the Underworld, brings things to the surface.

This includes things that have been buried deep within our psyche for decades, which need to be purged before we can regenerate.

There is an all-or-nothing energy to Pluto.

When it forms a partile (exact or close to exact) aspect to planets or Angles (Asc & Dsc or MC & IC) in our chart, it can obliterate our previous identity (including in painful ways) before a new version of us can emerge – like the phoenix rising from the ashes, symbolizing Pluto.

Those with planets or an Angle between 0-2 degrees of Aquarius have already felt Pluto’s presence (and will continue to feel next year as well) in the most profound ways with Pluto transiting the early degrees of this air sign.

Additionally, those with planets or an Angle between 0-2 degrees of Leo (the opposite sign of Aquarius) have also felt Pluto’s intensity (and will continue to feel it) with life-altering experiences that are guaranteed to transform them to the core (whether they like it or not).

Keep in mind that Pluto will travel through all the degrees of Aquarius in the next 20 years.

Hence, if you have planets or an Angle in Aquarius, you will feel a direct impact at some point when Pluto forms a conjunction to any of your Aquarian planets/Angle.

Pluto will also oppose all the degrees of Leo in the next 2 decades.

Therefore, if you have any planets or an Angle in Leo, it will also affect you.

An opposition is felt the most after a conjunction.

Now coming back to JLo…

Transiting Pluto was in opposition to her Sun when her 3-pronged multi-media project was released in Feb 2024.

She self-financed this 3-part project for $20 million, which included the album “This is Me…Now”, a musical film “This is Me…Now: A Love Story”, and a documentary about the making of her album and film “The Greatest Love Story Never Told”.

Despite her confidence and best intentions, most of the reviews of this 3-piece endeavour were brutal…to say the least.

A vast majority of the critics and the public in general were united in their disdain for what they labelled as a “vanity project”. And she became a subject of widespread ridicule on social media.

I must say that having only watched the documentary from her multi-media project, I understand why.

In particular, I was stunned by her lack of self-awareness in her own documentary, where one of the cringiest moments was when she read aloud and passed around to her colleagues the private letters written to her by her husband Ben Affleck.

Ben looked just as shocked and appalled in the documentary as I felt sitting on my couch.

I was a fan of her at one point and used to like her fiery “can do” energy along with her multi-talented abilities.

But she came across as abrasive and bossy in her own documentary where she had full editorial control.

In other words, what we saw portrayed her in the kindest light possible.

Things started to get worse for her with divorce rumors swirling, reaching a fever pitch in Spring.

I noticed that the Aries solar eclipse of 8 Apr 2024, which made an exact conjunction to the asteroid Chiron (wounds) fell close to her descendant (Dsc), representing her partner.

The astrology shows that a lot of distress in her marriage did surface at that time. And I won’t be surprised if the divorce rumors are true.

In May 2024, she was one of the celebrities who was on the boycott list for attending the Met Gala, an opulent event with over-the-top display of wealth, while around the same time an onslaught of attacks were perpetrated against a starving population in Palestine.

Celebrities like her were blocked by hundreds of thousands of people on social media for not speaking out.

This de-stabilized the social media algorithm with their posts becoming less visible and advertisers backing out from paying for ads on their profiles, affecting their ad revenue among other things.

Shortly after, she ends up cancelling her entire summer tour, just weeks before the events were scheduled.

She announced that she was taking time off to spend time with her family. But many pointed out that the cancellations were because of poor ticket sales, to the extent that some venues could barely even fill one-third of the seats, even after ticket prices were slashed.

More rumors followed that such losses led to other losses for her with the possibility of a $90 million Las Vegas residency falling through.

On top of this, her beauty brand, JLo Beauty, also had been pulled from Sephora, a multi-national retailer which sells beauty products. My online search shows that this happened late last year (before the debacle of her multi-media project this year).

One thing I’ve been shocked by are the countless videos on TikTok I keep coming across in the past few months made by people (including in the service industry) recalling unpleasant encounters with her.

Some incidents date back to a time before social media existed.

Her tipping behaviors in particular were discussed at great length on social media.

Some recalled that she snatched back tips her husband left for service industry workers because she thought it was too much and replaced them with much smaller amounts.

The number of people who left comments on these videos indicating they witnessed similar behavior from her were astounding.

She must have noticed the negative publicity along with her PR team because I just saw a video posted recently of how she left a generous $50 tip at an ice cream parlour and was friendly to everyone.

Also, it was reported a few days ago that she made a donation of $4.5 million to provide meals and medical aid to Palestinians.

In fairness to her, it looks like she is trying and focusing on things outside of her where she can make a difference.

And this is how she can work with Pluto in Aquarius, the sign of the collective – by being humble and getting involved in projects that empower the marginalized.

Trying to revive her “Jenny from the block” days to seem relatable to the public won’t work.

What will work is complete authenticity and looking outside oneself right now.

Pluto will continue to be in an opposition to her Sun until early Aug 2024 (I’m allowing up to an orb of 1 degree with Pluto).

It will form an opposition to her Sun again starting from Dec 2024, and then to her natal Mercury pretty much all throughout 2025 and 2026.

Mercury rules her 9th house, which is associated with legal matters. Mercury also rules her 12th house related to isolation and confinement.

Speaking of legal matters, her name has been getting dragged into P. Diddy’s legal case from the past.

I noticed that right now transiting Saturn Rx (limitations, consequences) is sitting close to the cusp of her 6th house (health), making a partile square (friction) to her natal Venus (her chart ruler) in her 9th house (legal matters) and opposing her natal Pluto (hidden matters) in her 12th house (losses).

This is forming a mutable T-square, a difficult aspect pattern.

This tells me that she is under severe stress, which is also taking a toll on her health, from the challenges she is facing from different directions, including over legal matters.

It’s interesting how her Venus is in an exact conjunction to Ben’s Saturn when I look at both their charts together.

In Ben’s chart, Jennifer is represented by Saturn (ruler of his Dsc), which is also in a square to transiting Saturn Rx which is sitting on his MC (career) right now.

Like her, Ben is also going through some serious (Saturn) obstacles (square), involving his marriage and work.

It’s also interesting that similar to her, Ben also has his Sun and Mercury in Leo (at different degrees).

When Pluto makes an opposition to her Mercury (ruler of her 9th house) in the next 2 years, I won’t be surprised at all if she gets called to testify in court with regards to P. Diddy’s case.

Pluto is known for reviving things from the past.

An investigation to P. Diddy’s case from the past involving a shooting from 1999 has been re-opened recently.

She was in a relationship with him at that time. And I see this case coming back to haunt her again.

A Pluto opposition is no picnic.

Pluto has been opposing my natal Moon and Saturn (which is one of my chart rulers besides Uranus) in early degrees of Leo.

Next year, the Lord of the Underworld will be sitting right on my Aquarian Ascendant.

Pluto transits are not comfortable by any means.

It can bring people to their knees with parts of their old identity getting wiped out.

But when you accept that it will be unpleasant at times and commit to work with Plutonic energy despite the discomfort, you will find a deeper strength you’ve never known before buried in places you were too afraid to look at.

After all, Pluto is also associated with power, including hidden power and great wealth.

So how do we tap into Plutonic power while it’s in the sign of Aquarius? And is there any room at all for Leos to shine with Pluto making an opposition to the sign of the cat?

Leo is a bold and passionate fixed fire sign who are masters of self-expression.

It’s opposite sign of Aquarius is a fixed air sign, known for being independent and a visionary whose ideas are often light years ahead of their time.

Leo’s playfulness and warmth are certainly much needed with intense Pluto in a cerebral sign like Aquarius who often seem detached.

We also need Leo’s fiery drive and generosity to push forth Aquarian ideas into action.

And there’s definitely room for Leos to shine.

But not in the spirit of outshining others. But in the spirit of sharing the spotlight with others (Aquarius), which ironically will make Leos shine even brighter.

The performers of the zodiac, Leos, can use their platform for activism (Aquarius).

Singer and songwriter, Dua Lipa, is a good example of this right now.

With her Sun and Venus in Leo, she is an internationally-acclaimed performer who has won 3 Grammy and 7 Brit Awards.

She is known for her fierce performance as well as for her philanthropic work and fearless advocacy for human rights (despite receiving threats and backlash for some of the causes she is committed to).

We all have Leo somewhere in our chart.

This Leo season, we can tap into some of our leonine traits to bring humanity to the forefront.

In that spirit, below are some Do’s and Don’ts of how to do Leo with Pluto in Aquarius.

I’ll start with Don’ts (dark side of Leo when left unchecked):

  • Trying to be the centre of attention all the time
  • Self-absorption or diva-like attitude
  • Flashing wealth and luxury goods
  • Name-dropping or acting important
  • Overbearing or domineering behavior (please avoid taking over a project for instance)

Do’s (higher octave of Leo):

  • Being creative in raising awareness &/or funds for a cause that’s important to you
  • Getting others involved in a creative project
  • Having fun and making sure others around you are having a great time
  • Generosity of spirit (it could be with your time, money, talent, etc.)
  • Making others feel special with Leo’s natural warmth
